24/01/05 - Well, I managed to get a final quick update in before the "big move". I've added two more
submissions to the Tips and Tricks database. Both tips have been submitted by
randomwalker, namely Perl Line Numbering and Randomising a Sequence of Lines.
-
23/01/05 - Some of the tips have received additional comments in the Tips and Tricks
area this evening. I've also added a fresh tip, Fast Switching Between Directories by Oleg P. Philon
to the database.
This may be the last update for around 10 days, as I am migrating from the UK to Australia at the end of the week!
Please keep on sending in tip submissions and ideas - I will have access to an Internet connection as soon as I arrive
so can pick them up early next week. I might be able to get a few more bits uploaded before I depart but there is *so*
much to do - they say moving house is stressful - you should try moving continents ;-)

19/01/05 - Plenty of submissions added to the Tips and Tricks database this evening,
including....
- A Cure for the Common SSH Login Attack by Jon Scully
- Concatenating Several Lines into One with echo by Oleg P. Philon
- Using Bash built-ins to Split a String by Oleg P. Philon
- Enhanced mkps script - running latex more than once by Miroslaw Prywata
- Date Verification Script by Grant Johnson
If anyone else wants to submit a tip to the database, please
feel free!.

18/01/05 - A nice large update today. A small bug has been fixed in sh2html that
was stopping the "touch" command from being properly highlighted - this has now been repaired. Thanks to Danny Cox
for pointing that one out.
A new tip submission from Oleg P. Philon regarding the use of the xargs and find commands has
been uploaded to the Tips and Tricks database.
For a little light relief, I've written a simple game of Naughts and Crosses or (Tic Tac Toe
to some of you) using Perl and cookies - have a look here for details.
Zazzybob.com has had a good review over at
Newsforge -
thanks very much everyone! Maybe my members area needs some work though ;-)

12/01/05 - I've uploaded two new tips to the Tips and Tricks Database
showing how to create a script to read multiple compressed text formats and a discussion of a cool
feature of the GNU date command. Two new scripts have also gone up to the
Script Repository namely psplit.pl - a Perl file splitter, and
pgrp - a simple primary group reporting tool.

02/01/05 - Firstly, let me say Happy New Year! to all visitors! I
have added a script to the Script Repository called
syncusb - I use this script to back up this website to my USB pen drive. Another tip has been added to the
Tips and Tricks Database showing how you can make
a script respond to a single keystroke - useful for "Press any key to
continue" style messages within scripts.
I've added a couple more links to the Links page after I noticed
some good folks linking to me - I thought it polite to reciprocate!
